DON’T LET THE DEVIL REMIND YOU OF YOUR PAST
Do you know that the devil gets a kick out of reminding you of your past? We ask God to forgive us (and he does) but yet we go around being depressed or thinking, why do I still feel this way? Why do I constantly think about the wrong things I said or did yesterday, last year, or another time in the past:
Well, one thing I want you to know, that it is not God who reminds you of the negative or bad past. No, he forgot it the moment you confessed it and asked him for forgiveness.
Yes, he forgot it. He is not the one coming up and saying, remember when! No, he forgave you the very moment you asked forgiveness and forgot it as well.
Hebrews 10: 17 --- Youngs Literal translation --- Verse 16 --- This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, giving My laws on their hearts, and upon their minds, I will write them: and their sins and their lawlessness, I will remember no more:
Hebrews 8:12 (Youngs literal translation) V12 --- because I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, I will remember no more.
Many times, we feel beat up because of things constantly are being brought up to our minds of what happened in the past. Well, we see by the above scriptures that it is not God, but we need to realize that the accuser of the brethren is the devil.
He is constantly reminding us of our past:
I heard a minister once say, when he was teaching along these lines, He said, when the devil reminds you of your past, remind him of his future.
You see, because of his rebellion against God, where he tried to exalt himself above God almighty, he was knocked down and sentenced to hell for his future. Remind him of that.
Also, we must forgive ourselves of our past: You must understand that the moment you made Jesus the lord of your life, those things of the past were exactly that, in the past. God the Father remembers them not more.
I find out to, it is our own minds remembering the past as well. When that happens, say no you don’t, my sins and my past are under the blood of Jesus. I confessed him Lord of my life, I don’t have a past. I have become a new creature in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 --- Youngs literal translation, so if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature, the old things did pass away, lo, they become new.
Since we see it in God’s word that our sins have past away and all things are become new, we can truly say, I have no past!
Those things that I did are no longer part of me, because I am a new creature in Christ Jesus; therefore, if God has forgiven and forgotten my past, then so can I.
At this point, just say out-loud, “I refuse to remember and be reminded of my past.” “I am a new creature and those old things are past away and I have become new.”
Remember this, God and satan (the devil) are not on the same team. God is our Father, Jesus is our Lord. This makes us on the winning team.
The devil is on the loosing team; therefore, we have no part in him or that life we lived before.
New creature = made completely new: Nothing was missed and left in us of our past. We became completely new.
We must remind ourselves every time our past is brought up to us, just say, “no you don’t devil, I am a new creation in Christ Jesus and old things have past away and I have been made new. Therefore, I have been made new, therefore I am a new creation, so get out of my life.”
Now, if you are reading this and have not made Jesus you Lord, say this. Dear God in heaven, I stand before you a sinner asking you too to come into my heart (spirit). Make a new creature in Christ Jesus. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins, so I would not have to. Therefore because of him, I make Jesus the Lord of my life and now because of that, I am now a new creation. Now I don’t have a past! I am new, I am now made in the image of God.
If you just prayed that prayer, you are now a new creature in Christ Jesus.
If you prayed this prayer, go to the testimony button on this screen and tell me about it and I will rejoice with you. “PRAISE GOD”!
Have a blessed life.
