HUMPTY DUMPTY!
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall! Humpty Dumpty had a great fall: All the kings horses and all the Kings men, could not put Humpty Dumpty back together again!
This is a story or a rhyme that we have heard over the years as we were growing up, especially those who grew up in the fifties and sixties. It was just a saying, but I want to speak to you of a true saying, one we can rely on and trust:
A lot of us have been in situations spiritually that we may feel like humpty dumpty:
We feel we were hurt by what somebody said to us: We sometimes feel that no one even cares: We get down in the dumps because it looks like nothing is working for us:
Well, I got news for you! There is someone who cares; who sees and has the answer to our every problem:
We even go out and sit in our chairs, feeling sorry for ourselves: It seems like, no matter who we talk to or what others say is not helping our problems and sometimes makes it worse: They just can’t put us back together again!
We go around and grumble all day, saying, “nobody cares, nobody loves me, no one will listen to me!”
I have news for you, there is one who is listening to you and loves and cares for you, more than you can apprehend:
His love is far beyond our human love or our imagination, of which we have learned to trust and rely on, but we cannot trust people or things to help us, we cannot rely on them or we will be like Humpty Dumpty and sit on the wall staying down in the dumps; deep depression; taking anti-depression pills; look to doctors and nothing is working or helping:
We call and text our friends and listen to them go on and on, how they understand, but when it all is said and done, we are still in the dumps, maybe even further in the dumps than before:
Jesus and his word is the ones who can lift us out of those dumps: Jesus is love and love is the only cure that can bring us out of the dumps and into joy:
This reminds me of a song --- Love lifted me!
Love lifted Me:
James Rowe Howard E. Smith
Verse 1 --- I was sinking deep in sin, Far from the peaceful shore, Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more; But the Master of the sea Heard my despairing cry, From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.
Verse 2 --- All my heart to Him I give, Ever to Him I’ll cling, In His blessed presence live, Ever his praises sing; Love so mighty and so true Merits my souls best song, Faithful, loving service, too, Him belongs:
Verse 3 --- Souls in danger, look above, Jesus completely saves, He will lift you by His love Out of the angry waves; He’s the Master of the sea, Billows His will obey; He your Savior wants to be --- Be saved today:
Chorus: --- Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When nothing else could help. Love lifted me: Love lifted me.
Jesus is that love that lifts us out of the mirery clay (dumps) The mirery clay are the things that hold you down in the dumps or makes you fall off the wall:
Let us quit going places or visiting with people that keeps us in the dumps:
Let’s quit being like Humpty Dumpty who falls off the wall:
The wall I want you to sit on, is the wall of faith:
Let’s keep ourselves on the wall of faith with our trust in the only one who can put us back together again:
Remember: Jesus is Lord!
