INSTANT MASHED POTATOES

As I was growing up, they created this food called instant mashed potatoes:

All you had to do was to pour the contents of the package into a bowl, then pour boiling hot water on them and stir and there you were with instant mashed potatoes:

Well, the word of God and its promises are not like those instant mashed potatoes:

You cannot take the word of God on a subject or thing that you need and pour something on it and presto, there you have instant healing — instant prosperity etc.

No, you must spend time preparing your heart (spirit) to receive the word of God:

True mashed potatoes take time as well, you must peel the potato, cut it up to small pieces, then place them in water, then boil for a while until the potato gets soft, then you mash them up for a meal:

Preparing your heart for the word, takes time, depending on how long it takes for you to believe that what God said, will come to pass:

You cannot read the Bible 1,2 or 3 times and presto — instant healing or instant new sight:

No, you must prepare your heart (spirit) to receive that knowledge until it gets stirred by prayer and thanksgiving before it turns into healing, prosperity or whatever else you need:

To many people go about their day, week or month and never stir the word of God in their hearts: Then they wonder why it doesn't work:

1. You have to spend time in the word of God:

2. You must read it:

3. You must speak it:

4. You must stir it:

Then there are times, that you must again,

1. Read it

2. Speak it

3. Stir it

4. Eat it

Then there are times that you must

1. Read it again

2. Speak it again

3. Stir it again

4. Eat it again

Then — Surprise; Surprise; surprise

You must

1. Read it again

2. Speak it again

3. Stir it again

4. Eat it again

You might ask, why are you repeating what you said over and over?

Because — Repetition is like boiling your mashed potatoes so you can digest them:

The word of God must be eaten before it does what you want it to do and sometimes you must eat the word again and again:

In school as I was growing up we would go over the spelling words over and over and over:

In math we would do our math (arithmetic) problems over and over:

Why? So we would be able to pass your test! There was always a day coming, where the teacher would pass out a test in order to see if you learned anything:

Well, the same thing in the word in our spiritual lives — there will (because of satan) pop up a test to see if you learned anything:

There is a real devil and he is more than happy to hand you a test: He is hoping that you flunk the test, because if you flunk the test, he keeps you in bondage and wondering if or why the word does not work:

Study of the word prepares you for your test, just like study in the natural, taught you how to spell or that 1+1 = 2 or 2x4=8:

The devil is like some so-called friends who say — Come on and play or come with me to the movies, you don’t have to study — it is only a test!

Then you listen to them and the day comes for the test and you flunk it: Why? You went to the movies instead of study:

Well, in the Christian life we cannot always go to the movies and set aside our study, then expect to pass the test:

(There is always a devil ready to distract you from the word):

Pass or fail — which will you do?

We all pass or fail a test daily:

This depends on rather we have studied or went to the movies and that will make a difference in our lives:

Let’s study the word of God, spend time in prayer so, when the teacher (of the negative) comes at us, we will pass with A’s and B’s instead of flunk or F’s:

REMEMBER: Jesus is Lord!
