Verse 1 --- There have been names that I have loved to hear, But never has there been a name so dear To this heart of mine, as the name divine, The precious, precious name of Jesus.
Verse 2 --- There is no name in earth or heaven above, That we should give such honor and such love. As the blessed name, let us all acclaim, That wondrous, glorious name of Jesus.
Verse 3 --- And some day I shall see Him face to face, To thank and praise Him for His wondrous grace, Which He gave to me, when He made me free, The blessed Son of God called Jesus.
Chorus: --- Jesus is the sweetest name I know, And He’s just the same as His lovely name, And that’s the reason why I love Him so; Jesus is the sweetest name I know.
I know that all of us have heard names spoken on earth that were sweet names, you could say their name and people would say, that is the sweetest name and then say, they are as sweet as their name!
I know that when the word sweet is used, we think of a chocolate bar or a donuts or a cinnamon roll with sweet icing on top! How about a sweet banana cake with white or chocolate icing?
Well, when you meet Jesus and find out what he has done for you, those sweet pastries and candies won’t hold a candle to the sweet name of Jesus.
Once we accept Jesus as our Savior and get to know him and know what he has done for us, we realize how sweet that name really is:
Just sit and say Jesus over and over and over until you feel a sweet calm come over you: That sweetness is the very presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. If he was to come to your house in person and sit down on your couch right beside you, he would ooze with sweetness.
Those who truly made Jesus Lord of their lives have realized how sweet that name really is: If you can’t taste that sweetness, then you don’t really know him.
Go back to the chorus and say it over and over out-loud and wait for that presence to come: Jesus is the sweetest name I know, And He’s just the same as His lovely name, And that’s the reason why I love Him so; Jesus is the sweetest name I know.
I haven’t done it for a while, but I used to sit in my room or when I kneel and pray and just say, over and over and over, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus until tears fall from my eyes.
I am not hurting but realizing the sweetness of that name: Notice the song does not say anything about him only being sweet in church on Sunday, or only being sweet when you are! No, he is the sweetest name you will ever know or hear:
When you accept Jesus as your savior, rather you realized it or not, you received that name as well as Jesus himself!
Notice that Jesus never changes, he is always the same: No matter how you act or treat others, it does not change our Lord Jesus Christ: He is the same, yesterday and forever!
While you are reading this, stop right here and mark your place, close your eyes, raise your hands in the air, and just in the sweetness of the Spirit of God, say, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!
This is what this world needs hear today; they need to hear that name spoken over and over and over. If a person would just sit and say that name from their heart through their mouth, oh the peace that comes into one that does that: If we are feeling angry or hurt, if we say that name over and over, there will be a quiet peace flood our souls:
It really is a name I love to hear; I love to sing its worth, it sounds like music in my ears a song I never heard:
REMEMBER: JESUS IS LORD
