Do you know, this is to be a lifestyle and not a moment? I would venture to say, for most people, it is for a moment:

We look for friends, spouse, a relative to make us happy, or we look to comedy to do so:

Real happiness is just having and enjoying the joy of the Lord: How do you get happiness or the joy of the Lord?

By getting into the word of God and find out what God said about happy:

The joy of the Lord is our strength:

Nehemiah 8:10 --- Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: Neither be sorry; for the joy of is your strength:

The joy of the lord is your strength!

Joy = Rejoice, a feeling of great pleasure and happiness:

Rejoice = feel or show joy or delight:

Delight = please someone greatly or take pleasure in:

Great Pleasure = a cause or source of great pleasure:

The above are a few definitions that come from the joy of the Lord: In other words, if we have the joy of the Lord, we will have a feeling of great pleasure and happiness; we will rejoice and show great joy or delight: We will please someone or greatly take pleasure in:

How many of you reading this can say you take pleasure of a friend?

In this teaching, we need to take pleasure in our Lord Jesus Christ and let him bring joy, pleasure and delight to us:

We should never let depression destroy our happiness or delight: When we find this happening, we need to turn to God and his word and find what he does to give you joy:

As the scripture says, the joy of the Lord is our strength, well, the opposite of that means, without joy you are weak and without strength:

When we are spiritually weak and have no strength that is when the enemy brings negative thoughts to our minds and tries to tell us that no one cares which if we dwell on that, we will become weak and eventually get defeated:

The enemy loves us to stay in the mind frame of weakness, because when we are weak, he will try to defeat us:

He will tell you, that you are not loved: He will tell you that no one cares: He will tell you that you will lose everything you have:

The devil is a liar and we must not let him into our place: In the natural, would you just open your house to a known thief or murderer?

Well, when we let depression set in, that is what we are doing spiritually: We become spiritually weak:

Grab a hold of the word, start singing the song

1) The joy of the Lord is our strength:

2) Sing --- Oh happy Days

Be happy and full of joy:

The joy of the Lord is our strength

Let the Halleluiahs roll!

1. Once a sinner far from Jesus, I was perishing with cold, But the blessèd Savior heard me when I cried; Then He threw His robe around me, And He led me to His fold, And I’m living on the hallelujah side.

Refrain Oh, glory be to Jesus, let the hallelujahs roll; Help me ring the Savior’s praises far and wide, For I’ve opened up tow’rd heaven All the windows of my soul, And I’m living on the hallelujah side.

2. Tho’ the world may sweep around me With her dazzle and her dreams, Yet I envy not her vanities and pride, For my soul looks up to heaven, Where the golden sunlight gleams, And I’m living on the hallelujah side. [Refrain]

3. Not for all earth’s golden millions Would I leave this precious place, Tho’ the tempter to persuade me oft has tried, For I’m safe in God’s pavilion, Happy in His love and grace, And I’m living on the hallelujah side. [Refrain]

4. Here the sun is always shining, Here the sky is always bright; ’Tis no place for gloomy Christians to abide, For my soul is filled with music And my heart with great delight, And I’m living on the hallelujah side. [Refrain]

5. And upon the streets of glory, When we reach the other shore, And have safely crossed the Jordan’s rolling tide, You will find me shouting Glory Just outside my mansion door Where I’m living on the hallelujah side. [Refrain] Source: The Cyber Hymnal #2120

Author: Johnson Oatman

Johnson Oatman, Jr., son of Johnson and Rachel Ann Oatman, was born near Medford, N. J., April 21, 1856. His father was an excellent singer, and it always delighted the son to sit by his side and hear him sing the songs of the church. Outside of the usual time spent in the public schools, Mr. Oatman received his education at Herbert's Academy, Princetown, N. J., and the New Jersey Collegiate Institute, Bordentown, N. J. At the age of nineteen he joined the M.E. Church, and a few years later he was granted a license to preach the Gospel, and still later he was regularly ordained by Bishop Merrill. However, Mr. Oatman only serves as a local preacher. For many years he was engaged with his father in the mercantile business at Lumberton… Go to person page >
