Peace in the midst of a storm!

“PEACE IN THE MIDST OF A STORM”

In this life there are many storms, some seem to big unbearable and others seems small:

These storms are sent by the enemy to distract you from God and sidetrack you from your faith in God:

Sidetracks can be many things from a phone call, a child screaming, even a dog barking continually:

Some of these sidetracks are negative thoughts that come in through your mind, or from a friend that has negative news etc. But all of these things are distracting storms to lure us away from the word of God and faith:

Ask me how I know ------- Throughout the years of raising children and study of the word, I have had a lot of distractions, even now as I write this, there are other things entering my mind trying to distract me.

In the word of God, we see Jesus and the disciples on the sea of Galilee and what happened --- A storm arose and got them side-tract from what Jesus was saying:

Mark 4:35-41 New International Version Jesus Calms the Storm 35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”

36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him.

37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.

38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey

Here we have a sample of what I am talking about and of course, it was a natural seen, but still a storm arose:

All of those in the boat were afraid except for Jesus, He (Jesus) just got up and rebuked the storm and the waters calmed down:

You might say, but that was Jesus, yes it was but he demonstrated to those in the boat what they should do:

Jesus gave us, who are born again, the same authority that he had: We are to calm those storms that continually try to distract us from obeying God and do what he wants us to do:

Even now, while I am writing, I am being distracted by the computer changing how the font looks in one area and how it looks in the other area: Even though I cannot figure it out, I am not going to let that stop me from what I feel God has me to say:

There are other stories in the word, where distractions tried to keep the disciples from hearing and obeying Jesus:

We must, if we want to obey and follow God, get rid of the distractions: It might be that as you are trying to do what you heard God tell you to do, you get a sudden phone call and the person on the other end may not be nice as they speak:

Or it might be that all of the sudden your baby starts crying or your other children start to squabble:

These are distractions --- go take care of the distraction, then return and finish what you are being instructed to do.

I have been facing a lot of things lately trying to get me angry and out of peace, they are small things, such as what it said above about the type setting: But, I must deal with that by stopping what I am doing and say, Father God, I stand against this distraction and I am going to obey and do what you want me to do:

When you take care of the distraction through prayer and speaking the word, peace has no choice but to come:

Read the four gospels and see how many distractions the disciples faced while obey Jesus and yet Jesus was right there with them:

Understand that in the faith walk is much like doing things in the natural, storms come, and you must deal with them, if you want peace:

I am going to give you a challenge: Look in the new testament and count how many times the disciples faced storms and most of them were natural storms: I also want you to see in all of this, these storms were natural, but some were instigated by the devil to throw them off track:

Understand, storms may come, but that is not the time to give up --- No, this is the time to stand up and use your authority in Christ:

Look for and order a small mini book by Kenneth E. Hagin on the authority of the believer or one from Billye Brim:
