We are still on the subject of born into righteousness through His birth.
We have been looking at this from the standpoint of being in sin and how this is tied into the birth of Christ. All of what we’re talking about was put into action at the birth of Christ.
Jesus was born to redeem mankind from Adam’s fall and obedience to Satan. Through this disobedience to God, he set in motion what we see in the world today. Backbiting, death, sin, and all evil doings. Had he stood against the temptation of the devil, evil would not be in this world.
But, that did happen and so God sent His son to redeem mankind. This is where the birth of Christ comes into being. As I said before, all ministers teach the birth of Christ and talk about the babe in the manger, but you and I need to realize that there was much more behind that birth than what preachers teach and preach.
Redemption equals something that has been redeemed. That’s a good definition. Redeem means to “get back, recover, as by paying a fee, to set free, to ransom, to rescue, to deliver from sin and its penalties as by a sacrifice made for the sinner, to fulfill, as a promise, to make amends for, to atone or compensate for”.
The Webster’s Dictionary says to look at rescue as “being free or saved from a danger of imprisonment, evil, etc. To take a person or thing out of legal custody by force! A freeing from bondage or from the consequences of sin, or a reclaiming. Webster’s continues by defining “to ransom” implies the payment of what was demanded in order to free one held captive, to save”.
Now, with all of that in mind, Adam sinned and put a curse on all of mankind and there was certain death to all men if something wasn’t done to redeem man or bring man back to God. Through Adam’s sin, he, as I said before, sold his birth right to the devil and turned man over to the control of the devil.
Now through redemption, God has redeemed us back to Him. He rescued us from certain and sure spiritual death to life. How did He do this? Through the giving if His own life. Through the birth, death and resurrection of God’s son Jesus. This is the reason why we are studying this on the “in Him, in Christ Series, for it is through Him that we are, and have today, life and blessing.
Redemption is brought to us in Christ (Romans 3:24). Being justified freely (rescued, redeemed or set free) by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Remember that redemption is the redeeming of or the rescuing one from danger, imprisonment, evil, etc. That redemption is a cost.
I want you to realize, that if a person is rescued, it is not at the cost of the Person being rescued, but by someone else. In our case, we were redeemed at the cost of the life of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:1-2) Notice the words “In Christ”.
These scriptures are ours to be claimed because they were given to us through the redemption of Christ.
1. There is therefore (why? because of the redemption through Christ) now (present tense) no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit.
2. For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
You see, though the birth of Christ, we have redemption. We were bought with a price and because of this, there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ. There is no need to feel guilty.
Don’t let the devil make you feel guilty because of sin that Adam did or maybe a sin that you have committed. Once you confess your sin to God and accept His forgiveness, then there is therefore now, NO condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus! We were placed into the body of Christ, through Christ.
Another thing that happened to us in Him, (Romans 12:5) So being many we are one body in Christ, and every one members of one another. This basically tells us that we were placed into the family of God in Christ.
