Are you Shut in with God
The disciples were praying for the power to fall Ten days they did tarry, on God they did call Then God sent His spirit to baptize them all For they had been shut in with God Chorus Shut in with God in a secret place There in the spirit, beholding His face Gaining new power to run in this race Oh, I love to be shut in with God Of all pleasant places on land or on sea There’s no place on earth that is sweeter to me Than to kneel at the feet of my Master and Lord For there, I’ll be shut in with God The pathway to Heaven, though rugged it may be I’ll travel ‘til my precious Savior I’ll see Then the gates of that city will open for me And there I’ll be shut in with God
Have you ever been shut in with God?
If so, have you done it lately? I know myself; I have failed many times in my lifetime: I get busying around with the natural side of life, that I forget to shut myself in with God:
In this secret place is where you hear the voice of God talking to you, giving instructions, maybe answers to a question:
In the secret place is where you shut out the world and all other distractions and it is a time spent between just you and God:
In the natural, I loved the times when I would shut everything down and climb up on my Dads knee and he and I would talk. We would talk about anything that we wanted to talk about. It was a precious time spent. Now, I can’t do that anymore because Dad left and went to heaven, my mother as well, but I still think about those times we spent together:
In those talks sometimes would be conversations about life in the future, getting married or talk about auto mechanics and just life in general:
In this teaching, I want you to realize, that our heavenly father is not going anywhere, we can call and talk to him anytime we want to: We can just crawl up on his knees and ask questions etc.
You may ask where is this secret place, well it could be a special room that you chose to sit in a chair or get on your knees just to talk? Or it could be a time you spend in your vehicle while you are going to church or to the store or on vacation while the rest of the family is sleeping:
Being shut in with God could be done in a closet where you shut out everything else, but it could be that as you are sitting in you favorite recliner, you just talk quietly to him:
Shut in with God in a secret place There in the spirit, beholding His face Gaining new power to run in this race Oh, I love to be shut in with God Of all pleasant places on land or on sea There’s no place on earth that is sweeter to me Than to kneel at the feet of my Master and Lord For there, I’ll be shut in with God
You see, being shut in with God is not necessarily asking for things: It could be just beholding His face, Gaining new power to run in this race:
It could be just listening to his voice:
The bottom line to this is, we need to be less concerned about the natural things and be more concerned about the spiritual things:
Now, I am not saying for us to go off the deep end and just talk to God about spiritual things, for he is interested in every facet of our lives: He has an answer and gives guidance for any subject if we will listen and obey:
The words listen and obey are very important and they go hand in hand: A lot of people listen okay, but do not obey what he says: We sometimes get the idea that we are smarter than he is and therefore fail because we wanted to do it our way:
Listening and obeying God with trust will surprise you at how fast your faith grows and how fast your answers come:

Let’s read the verse above and think about what it says! We go on vacation and see waterfalls, Deer just frolicking in the woods or a mountain full of beautiful trees with many colors or we sit in the open and look at the stars, but as precious and beautiful these things may be, there is nothing more better, than the time spent between you and the creator of all of those things:
What I am going to ask you to do today is, find a place that you can get alone and tell the family, I am going to go in my secret place and just commune with God: You can even sit in a chair on a nice day or evening under the stars at night and just have communication between you and him: You would be surprised at what happens when you do:
The love of God just comes down and goes all through you and the feeling of that is beyond explanation:
