Verse1 --- Standing on the promises of Christ my king, Thru eternal ages let His praises ring, Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing, Standing on the promises of God.
Verse 2 --- Standing on the promises that cannot fail, when the howling storms of doubt and fears assail, By the living word of God I shall prevail, Standing on the promises of God:
Verse 3 --- Standing on the promises, I now can see, perfect present cleansing in the blood for me: Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free, standing on the promises of God:
Verse 4 --- Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord, Bound to Him eternally by loves strong cord, Over coming daily with the Spirits sword, Standing on the promises of God:
Verse 5 --- Standing on the promises, I cannot fall, listening every moment to the Spirits call, Resting in my Savior, as my all in all, standing on the promises of God:

I remember, as I was growing up, of singing this song in church and truly believed these words are true and truly from the Spirit of God: However, I remember people putting the Bible on the floor and standing on it:
Well, standing on a Bible alone will only get you two to three inches off of the floor, depending on the kind of Bible you had and there was nothing wrong with this, but even this song brings out that there is more to it than that:
This song is talking about confession of the word: Speaking scriptures out loud on a regular basis:
When you are trusting God’s word to work on your behalf, rather for healing or prosperity Etc., Standing on the promises should go like this --- Father God, I read in your word, ( give scriptures for example) Matthew 8:8 --- The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou should come under my roof, but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed: )
(Another example: 1 Peter 2:24 --- Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed)
Always give examples of scripture you are standing on, for whatever you are believing for:
The above words that you just read, were the promises of God, but you must have these down inside of your spirit man, which is the hidden man of the heart:
Your spirit (The hidden man) is that which was born again, when you accepted Jesus as Lord: Your fleshly body is not born again, but will be made new at the return of Jesus Christ:
Standing on the promises are not a Now and Then Word: Standing on the promises needs to be an everyday occurrence:
We should be speaking the word = (Promises of God over us and over our families daily rather they live with you or got married and moved on)
Sometimes we get things in our lives moving along pretty smoothly, then all at once, the bottom falls out and we blame God and his word for failing us:
No! No! No! --- It is not the word failing us, It is us that fail the word:
We get busy in our lives and forget to read the word, pray or speak scriptures over our lives and our families as well as over our finances, which also requires you to do before the blessing of God works:
Giving of your money into the Gospel ministries and ministers say as pastor or teacher, will help keep them on TV to minister to those who don’t have a local church to go too: There are promises in the word for blessing those who feed you spiritual food and those who give of their time. It is also good to give to the poor:
Giving of your finances is actually a command of the Lord, if you want to increase financially:
In every promise of God for you, comes with a requirement from you:
1) God promises eternal life = you must accept him as your Savior in order to get it:
2) God promises good health as long as you believe it and speak what the word says: learn to create confessions for your desired result or need:
3) God promised to supply your every need: you must act on God’s word and give in order to receive:
We are still talking about standing on the promises of God: Standing does not mean to sit or lay around waiting for God to do what he said: No, standing on the promises means, to take action, act on what you believe. Act as if you already have it, even though you don’t see it yet!
This life is not just a God thing, It is a partnership between you and God: Example: salvation is a promise of God: Does salvation just jump on you and you don’t have to do anything? No, you must act and confess the word of God and receive him as your Savior: Romans 10: 9says --- that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved:
Standing on the promises of God, is you acting on what God has said: Standing on the promises of God, is you being obedient to him and his word:
Standing on the promises of God is you speaking the same thing he is speaking: As I heard a minister once said, If you want the dog to come, you don’t say, here kitty, kitty, kitty! No, you call the dog by name:
Well, you must call the promises of God by name! Find what the promise is for your situation and call it by its name:
The promises of God requires you to do your part in order to receive: God’s word is not automatic, you must shift gears: You must use your mouth, to be able to stand on the promises:
Just like driving a standard shift vehicle, you must push in the clutch to smoothly move to the next gear, well your mouth is that spiritual clutch that will move your spirit to the next level:
Faith works if you work your faith: (You use your mouth in the negative, just shift to a different gear and use your mouth in faith!)
Working your faith is a daily thing: It requires time spent in prayer and the word: Prayer is just you talking to the master:
UNTIL NEXT TIME: REMEMBER, JESUS IS LORD!

Thanks
This is extremely good and helpful stuff Bill. You break down a song really good and strengthen it’s meaning. Good stuff. I laughed at the standing on the Bible getting you so many inches off the ground. :)
Thanks for reading
