Are you reading and understanding what this song is saying? The word of God is not a quick fix scheme to be the thing to use when you get in trouble, It needs to be a way of life!
The longer I serve him, the sweeter he grows: God the Father, Jesus our Savior and the Holy Spirit grows on us the more we serve him:

Notice, this is not a one-time deal! It says, the longer I serve him the sweeter he grows:
We are not talking here about going from 30 minutes of serving to one hour of serving, we are talking about a lifetime serving him:
How do you serve him? 1) Prayer daily. 2) Praise daily. 3) Giving thanks daily. 4) Studying and reading the word daily. 5) Talking to him daily as you do your daily things:
You can clean house or do your job at your workplace, mow your grass etc. and talk to him and let him grow in you.
Communicating with the Father can be done while doing natural things: It can be done when driving, while shopping, while at a restaurant: There is nowhere or nothing you can do that can stop you from worshiping him and getting to know you:
A lot of people get up in the morning and say --- god morning Lord and nothing else beyond that:
As a man and woman getting to know each other, they don’t usually see the person one time and fall in love: They spend time with them, dating them, talking to them being around them, calling them on the phone, texting them, in order to get to know them and build a loving relationship:
A great relationship with another human being is great and wonderful, but serving God brings much better results:
In the natural a man and woman might get to know each other and get married, then something happens, and they divorce: Well, in the relationship with God, there is no divorce it is compatibility all of the time. You cannot get mad and divorce God, he will always remain the same, he will love you, help you, be there for you in every way:
He is love personified --- He so loved the world that he gave his only Son for our salvation: He did not have to do that he could have said, the heck with this human -being thing, I am divorcing them and no longer want a relationship with them again!
No, he chose to send his Son to die in our place, so we would not have to: He even sent Jesus into hell to conquer it so we would not have to go there: Jesus was made sick so we could receive healing:
He is everything this song says, “The longer I serve him, the sweeter he grows:
Question: How sweet do you want him to be to you? How much of him do you desire in your life?
Do you want an every now and then relationship with him? In today's world that is the relationship men and women want, is an every now and then relationship:
God is love and will never change:
