Lyrics
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word, What a glory He sheds on our way! While we do His good will, He abides with us still, And with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there's no other way To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies, But His smile quickly drives it away; Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear, Can abide while we trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there's no other way To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet. Or we'll walk by His side in the way. What He says we will do, where He sends we will go; Never fear, only trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there's no other way To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Oh, Trust and obey, for there's no other way To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
And 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to take Him at His Word; Just to rest upon His promise, Just to know, "Thus saith the Lord!"
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I've proved Him o'er and o'er; Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
Oh, for grace to trust You more!
Psalms 84: 11 & 12 --- Verse 11 --- For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly:
Verse 12 --- O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusts in thee:
Isaiah 50:10 --- Who among you feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God:
I like this song for it tells us that no matter what we see or are up against, all we need is to trust and obey:
Trusting and obeying can be hard to do sometimes: Our hearts (which is connected to God) will tell us to do a certain thing, but our minds, which are connected to our flesh, tells us to do another:
Sometimes we battle back and forth trying to justify both voices, but God is saying to simply trust and obey:
I had this situation happen to me yesterday. I was asked to be in a place for encouragement for a minister who had to preach his own mother’s funeral. The whole day up to the time I needed to leave the house, I was tormented in my mind about going.
I wrestled with this negative voice almost all day saying do not go you don’t need to go. I was in a crunch for time and really did not need this. I called my Son, to see is he was going, and he said yes: At that moment, I felt the torment release from me and went up and out of my head and a sweet peace came over me and I went to the funeral service. I cannot explain the sweet feeling I had after that torment left, but I was happy.
Now, with that all said, and as this song goes to say --- there is no other way but to trust and obey:
Obeying sometimes is not easy, especially when our natural eyes cannot see the end results: Obeying is not hard when we can see the answer or it has arrived, but faith in God is trusting and obeying even when we don’t see or feel any different:
Take healing for example: In 1 Peter 2:24 --- Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed:
I have found more than once, when trusting God for my healing, that I found myself trusting my feelings of pain or feeling weak inside, instead of trusting his word and speaking it, no matter how I felt:
I don’t care what People say, but sometimes believing God’s word is hard to do especially when you feel pain or other sickness and it seems like nothing changes:
But, as this song says --- trust and obey, for there is no other way, but to trust in Jesus:
I have learned over the years to be better at trusting God and his word: I am not perfect at it, for sometimes I feel pain and my mind says, see there, the word does not work! If it did, why do you still feel sick or feel pain?
This is when I get the word out and speak verses on healing over and over again.
You see, speaking the word over gets you to trust and obey: This same teaching works for your finances as well: I can remember well, how I used to struggle financially not knowing where the money would come from until one day, I told myself not to wonder where it was coming from, but just to Trust and Obey: Your Father God knows best and we need to trust him:
Let’s look at Isaiah 50:10 again --- Who is among you that feareth the lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light?
Let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God:
A) Who is among you that feareth the Lord? This word fear does not mean to be afraid, but to trust or one who puts their trust in the Lord:
B) Trusting in the Lord is a knowing that if he said it, it will come to pass:
We sometimes set a timetable up and if it don’t happen in that time frame, we say, “Well, I tried that faith stuff and it don’t work! (Faith is not magic or a spell!
No, No, No! Trust and obey for there is no other way:
REMEMBER: JESUS IS LORD!
